Hello and welcome to my, erm, new blog :)
Firstly, to note, I'll be trying to type properly now. Haha. I'll try my best eh.
Ok, since I've wanted to blog about Hiromi, i shall, since I stupidly drank Starbucks on my way back from shopping and I can't sleep now. How wow I know.
Here's just an equation which would explain everything Hiromi is.
Hiromi Uehara = Inspiration + Creativity + Uniqueness
Before going for the workshop, Nat Eng and I were like, "Oh man, what if we make a fool out of ourselves there?", "Will it be hands on?", "How, how, how?!". Basically that. Well, the workshop was freaking awesome I must say. It was more of a Q and A thing, and although some idiots asked retarded questions, listening to her was really inspiring. Examples of stupid questions, ok, well, not stupid, but just questions which did not appeal to most of the people present at the workshop.
"How do you take care of your hands? Do you like put moisturisers or something?"
"I'm actually from Malaysia. Are you coming to Malaysia anytime soon?"
I respect them for asking but, its just a little too...erm, out of the topic (?) Good questions would be...
"How would your daily practice routine be like?"
"How do you infuse improvisational techniques into your music?" or somewhat similar...
And the most inspiring line she said, which made a whole lot of sense was...
"People say I'm hardworking when I tell them that I practice the piano 5 hours a day. I don't understand why because when people play the Xbox 5 hours a day, nobody calls them hardworking. So I don't understand why I'm called hardworking." or once again, somewhat similar to the lines.
Don't you think that's absolutely true? Haha. And so, once she started playing the piano, Nat Eng's and my jaw practically and literally dropped. My cousin Mel introduced Hiromi to me, and apparently, I have not heard any of her playings before, but when she started playing this tune "The Tom and Jerry Show", we went "WOW". If you want to hear it, ask me. I bought her albums. Haha.
So, what to expect, her concert was equally amazing as well, although not much of jazz was showcased. It was more of fusion and crossover. Saw Hiromi, and got her autograph! First time I went home with an artist's autograph. It felt really good. Haha. Here's the part you all are waiting to hear.
I think...Hiromi is better than Jamie. HAHA. In terms of her inspiration. But, I still love Jamie just as much. :D
Ok, next topic. Clarissa and Maxine's dance concert.
Yes, the guy who helped us in the bus, is totally cute! Haha. Oh man, he's really super duper nice to realise that we were lost, but who didn't notice that huh. Well, anyways, I think he's cute. Haha. Designer. Lol. So, he helped us a whole lot. If it wasn't for him, I think we wouldn't even have been at the concert.
Anyways, the concert was quite alright. The little dancers were really cute and Jo and Weelyn they all, just had to make a whole lot of comments. Lucky I wasn't beside them if not I'd have died. They kept making fun of the ******* look alike. Mean asses.
Temasek Concert.
It wasn't fantastically fabulous but I suppose it was just nice. Nothing much. Oh and I must say, the girl in the percussion ensemble could kill me. Literally. Based on the fact that, she's from TWE, shouldn't she be playing well? Instead, sorry, but she was totally OUT. I'm not saying that we have a better tempo but, she was really not constant in her tempo even the aunties in front of us realised. Sound wise, quite alright except for the junior band which I think was quite soft.
Then, it came to the part, everyone went crazy. The after part of the concert. I have absolutely no comments. Oh wait, I do have one. Weelyn Oh owes me big time.
Band practice on 22nd. It was... like right. Mr Heng said he was going to be coming down. Obviously, we were like afraid. Makes me wonder, why are we afraid of him and not Mr De? Ok, just wondering to myself. Don't bother answering that. Anyways, then he messaged me at 2.05 around there, that he couldn't make it. I could almost die on the spot. Two reasons. Firstly, we panicked for no apparent reason. Secondly, what were we going to do then? So we had no choice, but to work on the SYF pieces and the rest. Sherri and I conducted. It kind of sucked. Haha. What do you expect?
Band practice on 23rd was even worse. We were told by Mr Juraimi that we could use the Music Room. Next thing you know, we were told to use the MPR. Goodness. How wow. So, alright, we obediently shifted to only find out that CO had set up in MPR and they didnt want to move to the Music Room. Then I have to commend on the tolerance the Band girls had. We just tolerated everything.
Oh, did I mention that CO people are a bunch of barbarians. Sorry, but it's true. They think it's really funny to see Band girls march. Honestly, I don't see what they were laughing at. That's probably because I'm not a barbarian.
So, we ended up in the hall. Sherri and I conducted again. Thank God, that by next band practice, Mr De would be back! Alleluia!
Christmas Dinner at my aunt's.
Went there right after band practice. There was beef, lamb, chicken, ham, potato salad, salad, pasta, wine and log cake. Obviously, I didn't drink the wine, so instead, I drank the beer with orange squash. Haha. No turkey. Oh wells, it was definitely yummy. Oh and not to forget that my aunt and uncle from England came back so yeah, it was like a family reunion at the same time. Then my uncle/Godpa came. Haha. You know, I'm not even close to my Godpa. It's been ages since I talked to him. How strange but yeah. And the thing during the dinner was that, I had almost everyone there saying that I lost weight and the thing was that I didn't know how to react because I didn't think I did. So, I just went, "Oh ok. Yeah. Thanks." to almost everyone who said that. Haha. Unless, my diet plan did really work.
Oh, so after everything and before my aunt and uncle left, we decided to take, once again, a family photo which would be somewhat similar to (I can't really remember if it's during Chinese New Year or Christmas 05)'s photo. So, we took that framed photo in the house and took the same places, the exact same places, the exact same posture. Haha. It was hilarious. We kept laughing non-stop. Then so, my cousin's maid took the picture. After my cousin and my brother took the picture, the maid, her name is Celia, she took the picture... Note that there were two rows, first row consisted of almost all the ladies, second row was the men and those who were missing from the previous photo taken last year or whatever.
Celia: Ok, 1, 2, 3! *snaps*
Everyone: *relieved that it's over*
Celia: Oh wait! Take again!
Everyone: Huh? Why?
Celia: I forgot to take the first row.
It was freaking hilarious. So, in other words, she was just concentrating on the second row. Lol. She's really cute. I remember, the last time she took a photo of us, she pressed the button and pushed the camera down as well. Haha.
Next topic.
Today, I got really pissed in the morning because I didn't wake up for Legion and I was late for the violin combined lesson. Whenever someone calls me and reminds me to be early, I'm always late. Somehow, it's like a curse or something. That got me really pissed off today. Apparently, my aunty sent me a message for who knows why to remind me about the lesson. So, I saved my message instead of replying an "Ok" to her. Next thing I know, she calls me on my phone and I was still sleeping. Next thing, I'm late for lesson. If she didn't tell me to be early, I would have been early. I might not be making any sense here but that's the way for me. I got so totally pissed off that I was late for lesson, I cried while being desperate to get a cab. I felt like Michelle's sister or something. Haha. I think I was just too emotional huh. Finally, got a cab at like 12.10 when my lesson started at 12pm. How wow.
Here's the funny bit. My violin teacher gave me a Christmas present. Guess what she gave me. She gave me a French Manicure set thingy. The irony is that, as a violinist, I can't have long fingernails because then, I wouldn't be able to press on the strings. How ironic eh. Haha.
Made my way to AGR which I have no comments about. The only bit I loved was the last part where we smashed the balloons. Haha. I think SAC did really well with the dance. I think it was quite obvious you all were going to win. I say "you all" because note that I wasn't in the dance. Haha. I didn't know the dance.
Took 17 to Pasir Ris interchange, and had a fun time in the bus talking to Sarah Anne. She's one joker. We were betting how long it takes from our school to Pasir Ris. Apparently, I wanted to waste my time in the bus because I was supposed to meet my mum at 8pm at Plaza Singapura, and it was only 7pm. So, I decided to take a super duper long trip to Pasir Ris interchange, then back to Plaza Singapura. How dumb, but at least she managed to entertain me.
And guess what? I spent 100 over bucks at Flash and Splash on just 4 Julius and Friends Tees. Haha. And I spent less on a cardigan, a top and a pair of jeans at U2. How wow. I'm super duper happy I must say. Now, say hello to the "Starve and Save" Campaign for next year. Haha.
Bought Starbucks and got on 14. The bus ride, was killer. The bus was freezing cold and to add on, I was holding on the cup of ice blended peppermint mocha. How wow. I was in fact, shivering. Then reached home around 1am. It was night shopping. How fun. :D
I have to go to church in about 9 hours, then go for tuition in about 11 hours, and then to church again for Christmas mass. :)
I realise that this post is super duper ultra long. I'm still not tired yet. Yay to you if you read word for word. Haha. Because if I were you, I would have just not read it. Lol.
I Love Christmas.
Merry Christmas to one and all! That's in case I don't come online tomorrow or later.
Mrs Audrey Cullum :)
You know, sometimes I wonder if anyone googles "Mrs Cullum" and if they stumble upon this blog, they think that I'm really married to Jamie, they must be ultimate fools.
